Site Notes

Our site is being developed entirely in-house and as such is an evolving piece of work. These notes help to explain why, possibly, all may not be as it seems.

Internet Explorer 8

When Microsoft introduced the latest edition of Internet Explorer, they decided that they would fall into common standards. This meant that numerous work arounds that developers had implemented over the years because MS did NOT follow standards, suddenly did not work. Until we have resolved any issues with our site, the pages are automtaically displayed in IE7 compatbility mode. You don't have to do anything about this. Eventually, when we find the time, we will upgrade to an IE8 compatible site.

Adobe (or Shockwave) Flash

The site uses Adobe Flash, version 10 and above. This is particularly the case with the PeopleSoft sections. In comon with many sites, we try and detect if you are running Flash and if it is the current version. If not, Flash Express Install is used behind the scenes to try and implement the latest version. If your browser is on a company desktop, it is possible (likely?) that this type of activity is locked down - so you will not be able to update Flash.

Where we detect that Flash is not in use, or is incorrect version, we do try to re-direct to a non Flash version of the page. However, this may not aways work and unexpected issues may arise.
